Exact match searches

How do I match exactly a search pattern?
Joe Bloggs returns all matches of Joe and/or Blogs Joe_Blogs will match exactly Joe Blogs but is not at all intuitive.
“Joe Blogs” or ‘Joe Bloggs’ doesn’t work – it just returns a \ in the search box.
Searching for an integer in an integer field? 34 returns 134, 244 2234 etc. How do I bound it for an exact match of 34?
