Exact password requirements

Turns out, that there are conflicting messages within the password reset cycle. On the actual page (wp generated) to reset the pw, it gives different instructions, claiming that the pw needs to have at least seven characters.

How can this be changed to the requirements of the Login Security Solution?

Proper password policy “hint” text exists in the plugin. Alas, WP 3.9 decided to make an inane change to the text, which broke my substitution. I just pushed out version 0.46.0 to fix it.

Where exactly is this feature? I’m using the German language version, maybe it hasn’t been translated yet? If not, I’d be glad to do it if you can point me towards what needs to be done ??

Hi Daniel,

here’s the issue I’m facing. My users are getting frustrated because the password reset function has a major problem. For some reason it won’t give the user feedback as to if the password they choose fulfills the necessary conditions.

No matter what password I choose, I am redirected to the login page. There I am then told, that my username/password is incorrect.

I really need to figure out why this is happening and how to solve it. Could this be a plugin conflict?

I just set up WP to use de_DE and am viewing wp-admin/profile.php in my browser. Down at the bottom of the page is what I expect to see:

Gib dein neues Passwort nochmals ein.

Das Passwort sollte: A) mindestens 10 Zeichen lang sein, gro?e und kleine Buchstaben (ausgeschlossen sind hier Sprachen, die nur eine Art besitzen) und Nummern und Punkte enthalten, oder B) mindestens 20 Zeichen lang sein. Das Passwort darf keine Worte enthalten, die mit dir oder der Webseite in Verbindung stehen.

When you say “No matter what password I choose, I am redirected to the login page. There I am then told, that my username/password is incorrect.” Can you please paste the exact message you’re being told?

Oh, I see now. WP made some changes under the hood of the password reset page that broke compatibility of my password hint filter. I’ll look into it.

Found the fix. Will show up in release 0.49.0 when I get a moment to roll that out.
