Is there a site I can go to to actually see MLA in action? Even better, with examples of the different settings and sample shortcodes?

I can’t for the life of me figure out what I got myself into here but, know I’m on to something. That said I admire folks that can step up to this plugin and deploy it without visual illustrations.

I tried finding documentation describing to a newcomer an on-boarding procedure e.g. so you want this… this is how you do it… this is what it looks like… narrative. Nada.

What I was hoping I found is a way for me to insert one or more thumbnails of covers of documents (e.g. general plan, charter, municipal code etc.) of a city and put some narrative next to it. Much like the existing gutenberg visual editor but, for a lot of documents.

I’m not sure if I should use posts or pages and well, a bunch more questions. I encourage you to offer some kind of ramp-up onboarding document that helps folks who know WP inside and out but, not so much being able to deploy a plugin 100% from text. Thank you!

Thanks for your questions and suggestions. I know that MLA is powerful but complex, and it requires some study and work to apply to an application problem. I regret that I do not have the time and talents required to develop tutorials and larger examples, but I do try to answer questions and help with specific solutions here in the support forum.

There are some getting started ideas in the Settings/Media Library Assistant Documentation tab, e.g., the “MLA Gallery Examples” section. You wrote “I’m not sure if I should use posts or pages“. MLA tries to be as WordPress-like” as possible and the mla_gallery] shortcode is based on WordPress’ [gallery] shortcode. The quick answer to your question is, well, either one. Most applications use a WordPress page with one or more MLA shortcodes in the content to display Media Library items. Of course, these work in Posts as well.

If your documents are provided in PDF format you may find some answers in this recent topic and the earlier topics it links to:

Here is another topic about the basics that contains links to other topic along similar lines:

I hope that gets you started on applying MLA to your application. I am marking this topic resolved, but please update it or start another if you have problems or further questions regarding the material in the earlier topics referenced above. Thanks for your interest in the plugin.

Please do not ask that HERE. That’s an invitation to spam these forums and that’s not what these forums are for. It’s for support, it’s not for showcasing people’s sites as examples. I’m closing this now and archiving the replies. You can try contacting the author on their site for that.
