excel file empty for summary report

Hi, i am able to produce a “summary report by products” with two fields (product name and total quantity) and view it in preview mode. However, when i try to export the report, the xls file has empty rows (no values just the header showing), any thoughts?

This does not happen when i create a regular order report.
