• I’ve tried all the major LMS plugins and, to my surprise and disappointment, none have overwhelmed. Too many holes, not enough focus on design, not customisable enough, etc. Just too much bloat for plugins that don’t tend to do any single thing to an outstanding level.

I tried WP Complete on a whim, and have found it perfect for my needs. It’s not flashy, but it does what it does very well. Most expensive LMS plugins don’t have something as simple as a shortcode for the mark-complete button, but WPC does. Configure the text for the button, set the link for the next unit, and create courses galore (though that’s for the paid version I think.)

If you want to put together a more customised, ad hoc solution, you’d do well to give WPC a go as its base. I’m also using the likes of Favorites and Nested Pages to create my own, organised LMS.
