Excerpt help

  • Please help with problems I am having with my excerpts in both the ‘featured news’ section and the subsection with individual excerpts.

    The excerpts get cutoff after 150 characters, yet I would like the excerpts to include exactly what I type in the ‘excerpt’ section before I post. I have tried to utilize a standard ‘<php the excerpt>’ function but it seems to disrupt my template. Also, whenever there are pictures in my posts, the excerpt always shows the HTML code for the picture. Here is my site so that you may be more familiar with the problems:

    Please help me in finding a viable excerpt plugin or a solution so that I may utilize excerpts correctly with this theme. Thank you.

    Using the_excerpt() would seem to be the most logical, and the best, solution to both of your problems. You say using it disrupts your template? In what way? Can you post a link to a working example?

    Thank you for your help. I have tried The Excerpt Editor plugin but I am not quite sure how to use this plugin to eliminate HTML code in my excerpts. I would simply like full control over every word that goes into my excerpt in both the ‘featured news’ section and subsidiary sections like I did with my previous theme.

    I do not know what the problem seems to be but I have no control over my excerpts. Could you please help guide me on the best way to use a plugin that would fix this?

    Okay, I figured it out! Thanks guys. One more question, however. I would like to know how to make the characters in the excerpts show HTML Makrup. For example, if I make a character in the excerpt bold or include a link in the excerpt, I want it to show up that way in the excerpt. Thanks.
