Excerpt Length and Read More

  • Hi!

    I’m using your plugin on a few sites now and love it ??

    On one of my sites I am trying to use the excerpt length and read more button features but they are not working. I am using custom excerpts as I use a page builder which uses a lot of shortcodes which mess up the standard excerpt. I understand that this is a problem for your plugin but I was wondering why and if there is anything I can do about it?

    Hey lacoder,

    The problem with excerpt length is not due to my code but due to the way WordPress treats excerpts. Actually the readmore and excerpt length will work ONLY if the excerpt was auto generated from the content.

    There obviously are workarounds, but as pointed in this thread: https://www.ads-software.com/support/topic/length-excerpt?replies=20 this is the core stuff here.

    A possible workaround for that could be using the custom templates and rewriting the code a bit. You can see the information on how to use these on the plugin description page.
