Excerpt Length and "Read More" code not working

  • Hi all,

    I’m sorry to post this as I know how many people have already asked this and how many times, subsequently, it’s been answered. BUT, I have tried pasting the code (as directed by the developer and others) into the plugin PHP and into my functions.php…I cannot get the excerpt length to shorten or the “…” to become “read more”.

    When I add the code to either the bottom of the plugin php or my theme’s function.php I get locked out of the site. I’ve tried everything I can think of. Not sure what’s going on here…any help is much appreciated!

    I’m using the theme “Customizr” and the most recent version of both the plugin and WP.
