Excerpt not show for CPT

    Hi,

    I am experimenting with WordPress for the possible migration of a project. In the tests, I used ACV View to create a Card that took the main content (description) of a Custom Post Type randomly and displayed it on the screen. It worked correctly until the recent update of ACV View. It doesn’t seem to be a conflict with other plugins. It has stopped working only with the Excerpt field. It correctly shows the creation and modification dates, the author, the title and the URL… But it is impossible with the Excerpt. I’ve tried other Custom Post Types, and it doesn’t work either. However, it works correctly with the posts (core content).

    The test configuration is:

    • WordPress 6.3.1
    • Language: en_ES
    • Parent theme: Twenty Twenty-Three (twentytwentythree), 1.2
    • Server: Apache/2.4.52 (Unix) PHP/8.1.2
    • Plugins: Advanced Custom Fields 6.2.1; ACF Views 2.0.0; Custom Post Type UI 1.14.0

    I have not found a similar case in this support forum. Maybe I am doing something wrong, although it worked correctly and, when updating, it has stopped working.

    Could you please share a link to the page that contains your ACF Card, the one that shows the CPT item/s, with their excerpts/ descriptions?

    The web development is in local. Unfortunately, I can’t give you access. I have recorded a video with the screens that may be of interest to diagnose the situation. In the test, I can get the CPT title and the author’s name. Of the one that interests and of another CPT (fail with everyone CPT, even with those who properly have an excerpt). But it is impossible to obtain the excerpt.

    We’ve now released the Excerpt fix in ACF Views v 2.1.0.

    Please can you update your plugin and see if the Excerpt now displays as expected.

    Hi, I already have it, thank you.

    I see that it is now necessary to create the excerpt of the content. Before, the plugin recovered the description of the content.
    If it were possible to recover the previous behaviour, with the corresponding HTML code (links, bold, italic, cite, abbreviations, definitions…) it would be perfect.

    We’ve now removed that restriction, so if there is a description in the post it’ll display, or if Excerpt field is filled, it will display that instead.
    For the CPT items, since V2.1.1 it also now takes the description as Excerpt. Please make sure that you have turned on the ‘Support’ for the Excerpt in your CPT.
