Excerpt or extract

I’ve just discovered this great plugin.

When I use the shortcode [srp post_content_type=”excerpt”]
the plugin shows manual excerpts, as expected.
For posts which don’t have a manual excerpt, It only shows […]

If I use the [srp] default setting, it gives the first 100 characters of the post.

I would like SRP to display its list of recent posts showing
EITHER the excerpt if one has been defined
OR the first 100 characters of the post if there is no excerpt.

Is that possible with Special Recent Posts?

[The Twenty Fourteen theme and the Graphene theme both allow that kind of display]
