Excerpt problem – can’t get rid of

On my first post at my site I can’t get rid of the excerpt on my home page. My other posts are imports. This one is my only fresh one. When editing the post and choosing options I untick excerpt, but it keeps rechecking that box on its own. I’m stumped. I’m also pretty new at WP. Thanks!
