Excerpt shows code when shared on facebook

  • Hi!
    So when sharing an article from my blog on facebook, it won’t show its regular excerpt (or any regular content) but rather it shows code, e.g.
    “h3 id firstHeading class firstHeading lang en strong span style color…” and so on.
    I’m still new to wordpress, so forgive me if I have overlooked some basic rule, but as far as I’ve searched I couldn’t find anyone else having the same problem.
    Any suggestions?

    Hi,

    I suspect this is because the excerpt is a cutout of your primary content, and thus might be missing some closing HTML tags or similar (generating proper programmatic excerpts is a magical thing).

    Personally I use the Yoast SEO plugin as it handles all the Open Graph codes (what facebook uses when your content is posted there) and makes it look all pretty like.
