Excerpt to its own file?

Hi. I’m new to WordPress. I’ve been using MT for a few years, but it was time to make the change.
I need to be able to have the first 8-10 words of the most recent entry write to its own file, for including on another page. (I mean, so there is now a file with just the 8-10 words from my most recent entry in it, and my entry also posts to my blog.)
Is this possible with WP?
