Excerpts cut off in grid layout

  • My setup includes WP Fastest Cache integrated with StackPath CDN. However, I deselected all the images jpg, jpeg, png, gif, etc so that Jetpack would handle those solely.

    Everything is working great and is blazing fast. However, there is one issue I cannot resolve. I have a grid layout for the main site and for tags. Under each square image, there is an excerpt with “read more.” In the first column, the excerpt is cut off for some reason. If you refresh the page it resolves itself. On mobile, everything is fine but this issue appears to be on desktop only.

    It does the same with tags where I may have the same artist with different posts listed. Example, hover on Diva Hall of Fame and scroll down and click on Aretha Franklin and you will see the same issue. https://partyfavorz.com/tag/aretha-franklin/

    I figured it might be the minification in WP Fastest Cache which is pretty powerful and I unchecked each of them for CSS and HTML. Cleared my cache and opened up the page but the issue remained.

    I then deactivated all of my plugins and just left Jetpack and WPFC activated but the issue remained. I’m certain the problem is somewhere in WPFC but I don’t know where.

    Any suggestions on how to resolve this? It driving me nuts but having Jetpack handle my images makes the site load much faster than just using StackPath.

    If you mean the “Read More, Stream and Download” link, that’s just how your theme operates. Many themes only present a short amount of text, sometimes not even the full excerpt, on listing pages.

    They previously fixed themselves but just now – I went and added the sharing option in Jetpack and it’s doing it again. There’s something funky going on with the plugin that causes this issue.

    I set up the excerpts on the main page myself but the first row gets cut off anytime I make a change in Jetpack. It’s a bit annoying. I’ll clear my caching plugin, CDN and browser to see if that fixes the issue.

    Not even sure how it got fixed before but maybe that’s the problem. We’ll see. Thanks for responding.

    You’ll notice the first row is cut off and the full excerpt with the “read more, stream, and download” link is missing. For some reason, it does not affect the subsequent rows.

    It does the same thing on tags and categories as well. A simple refresh resolved the issue but I don’t expect that to be the behavior on the initial encounter of the site or any page.

    And this only happens with the sharing buttons enabled?

    That’s odd because I don’t even see them there.

    Hey James, I fixed the issue. The problem is with the lazy loading option in Jetpack. Once disabled – it worked as expected. I then just enabled it in my caching plugin WP Fastest Cache (it had been disabled) and all is working fine now.
