Excerpts incompatible with Read More

Paid Memberships Pro is theme agnostic and work for most days with the most serious, and I do see the excerpt, but I do not see a teaser. Since this happens with the new theme, please reach out to the theme author to ask if they have any ideas. Paid Memberships Pro is open source and they can test upcoming development branches here and check slated issues here.

thanks for the reply. The issue is not with the theme itself, as I had no need to use manual excerpts in the previous theme as it did not display post previews. Brought it up for context. The issue is that if I enter a manual excerpt to avoid the default 55 character WordPress excerpt, it overrides/cancels out what is shown in the teaser content before the ‘read more’ cutoff.

Can you advise of a fix to this? Or is it a limitation of the plugin? If so, how can this be resolved?

It sounds like the theme might be interfering here – we will try get a copy of the theme you are using to troubleshoot this further. I cannot give you a time frame at this moment.

For now, what you could do is tweak the excerpt length using a filter and enter the preview content within the excerpt when restricting it to members to also include that within the excerpt. I know this is not ideal but may be a workaround for now.

Paid Memberships Pro uses the_excerpt filter to adjust the content for non-members and include the non-member message call to action. If you need help in customizing this further please reach out to a local WordPress developer or post to jobs.wordpress.net
