Hello fellow wordpressers, I decided to try out wordpress locally via xampp, to finally start with that blog. Pretty quickly hit a snafu –

The default page, home page, where posts are displayed is itself like a mother template I guess?

There is the alt page template that I like (can’t remember the exact name – something something “alternative”), but I cant switch it out for the default homepage template, unless I create a new page, apply that alt template and then designate that as my homepage, right? There is no way to change the default homepage template directly?

Hey @oxioxi ! This theme uses the Site Editor for managing and editing templates. You can edit the home page template by going to Appearance > Editor in your dashboard. There is more on this process in this article about the site editor.

If you’re looking to test, using WP Playground is the easiest option.

    Hi Kavya,

    thank you so much.

As I understand it, “blog home” in block themes uses “query loop” to display posts, so I went and copied code from Blog – Alternative template query loop block and pasted it in default Blog Home’s query loop block, which achieved what I’ve set out to do! Any more useful links?
