Exclude caching for plugin

I have a plugin that randomly displays a quote when you click a button, and because of the caching with zen cache, I had to disable caching on the page where that plugin shows, however I am still having difficulty because I tried to display this same plugin in my sidebar, however because of the caching, it will not display more than one or two quotes, the button stops working. I tried using the code in the documentation to clear the cache when a particular action happened, however now nothing shows in the quotes box in the sidebar. Please let me know if there is anything I can change so that this section can be excluded from caching. Thank you.
