Exclude category from automatically sending push notification?

Unfortunately, as of this time we won’t be adding a category feature UI option into our plugin. However, this is still possible by using code documented here: https://documentation.onesignal.com/docs/guides-examples#section-onesignal_exclude_post-filter. We’ve noted your feature request here (https://github.com/OneSignal/OneSignal-WordPress-Plugin/issues/39) and may revisit this in the future.

Great, thank you very much! I got it working by adding this code to my functions.php file. Here it is in case anyone else wants to exclude a category:

add_filter('onesignal_exclude_post', 'onesignal_exclude_post_filter', 10, 4);
function onesignal_exclude_post_filter($new_status, $old_status, $post) {
	if ( in_category('sports') ) {
  		return true;
	}
}

I have used the above code and put it into my child themes functions.php how do I add more than just one category as at present this isn’t working and the link used above about documented code no longer exists

The code no longer works, any chance we could get an update on the ability to exclude (Or specifically select only news) categories to be pushed?

A possible work around I guess would be to use a custom post type for just news but that seems like using a sledge hammer where a tack hammer would do.
