Exclude category from “Recent Posts” widget on single.php

  • I’ve been agonizing over this for hours:

    Does anyone know how to exclude a specific category from the standard “Recent Posts” widget when said widget appears on single.php?

    (I’m not looking to install a different widget, a la “Enhanced Recent Posts”; I really want to just get it to work using the stock “Recent Posts” widget.)
