• I’ve never understood why Pages are listed under the Recent Posts heading of the Home Page – isn’t logical, they aren’t Pages.

Moving on, I have a Page that I only want people to get to from a link in an email or a link in a post.

There are lots of Exclude/Hide Page Plug-ins, but most only handle the navigation, feeds, search engines, search results, etc., never Recent Posts.

So, why would I want to hide a page in the Navigation and everywhere else in the blog and then have it show up in Recent Comments – kind of defeats the purpose of having a hidden page.

Besides setting the published date older than the last listed post or page so it falls out of that list, anyone have a suggestion?

    Thanks!

difficulrt to say without seeing the page but you are right a page should not be under recent posts unless, of course, you have made a mistake in mixing pages with posts and vice versa.

Moving on, I have a Page that I only want people to get to from a link in an email or a link in a post.

The easiest way is to go to:

Dashboard >> Pages >> All pages
now hover over your said page and click on Quick Edit. There you will have the option to enter a password and make the page private. You then need to send the link to your target audience.

I suspect all your other issues should be corrected when you have made your page private.

Thanks, but that isn’t an option, I don’t want thousands of visitors to have to have a code to get in. This is a discount offer page that will change frequently and codes will just become a bother.

I want to make it easy, they see and click on the link and boom, there is the offer.

Changing the published date to older than the others isn’t desirable but would be an option if I can’t solve it by code.

My best plan is to hide it from under Recent Comments – which by the way, a Page isn’t a Comment so why did they code it that way to start with? Should at least have that option available.

    Thanks again.

the easiest way is to create a custom link. this link will be part of your menu and people can click on it. Call this link “Special Offer”

To create custom link, I suggest try this document:

    https://en.support.wordpress.com/menus/#adding-custom-links

You need to create a page for your offer which will open up when people click on your “Special Offer” Link.

    Hope this helps.

Sorry, It’s late here and I’m not following your solution.

You wrote: “the easiest way is to create a custom link. this link will be part of your menu”.

What Menu? My link needs to only be in an email or in a post on the home page. I don’t want it in the navigation at all – my first post specified that.

I went to the document you suggested and only found:
“Adding Custom Links – Want a menu tab to link directly to another website?”

No, I don’t want a menu tab – I want it to be a hidden page that doesn’t show under Recent Comments.

    Thanks anyway-
