• Hi all,
since I deleted some old plog posts, pages or media files I receive lots of errors in the google webmaster tool. Seems like google is still trying to crawl all these pages and obiously can’t find this pages/files any more.

Do I have to exclude this pages/files manually from your plugin/xml sitemap? How do I do this?

    best regards,
    Tobias

  • I suggest you first refresh your sitemap, then go to google webmaster tools and check the sitemap option and make a new test or re-enter your sitemap URL because it happen to me a few minutes ago. I supposed Google got notification but there was no sitemap listed for that site of mine. I used its google test function then add again my sitemap.xml url

I wish it can solve your problem too

Google XML Sitemaps has no refresh option

If you go to Settings > XML sitemap and click on the link below this sentence
The URL to your sitemap index file is:
“your sitemap clickable link” you will be noticed that Google and Bing have been informed of sitemap update.

To be sure I then copied this link to my google webmaster tool and made a test.
It appears that the new files were detected by Google instead of the old one.
Besides, below the same clickable link there is a serial of option about refreshing or updating sitemap sections. It worked for me. That’s all.
If is not good for you don’t do it.
