We’re using this plugin in combination with the Imagify | Skip PDF Auto-Optimization helper.

The helper says it’s for preventing the optimization of PDFs when they’re uploaded.

We’re hoping to prevent optimization of PDF files when we run the bulk optimizer. Will this helper prevent PDF optimization when bulk optimizing?

If not, is there a way to exclude PDFs when running the bulk optimizer?

    Thanks!

    Hi @danpw,

This is Joseph from Imagify, and I’ll gladly assist you here!

At the moment, this helper only prevents auto-optimization from happening for PDF files. Unfortunately, if you run the Bulk Optimizer, PDFs will still get optimized, even with this plugin installed.

We are considering adding a filter or creating another helper plugin to allow specific file types to be excluded from bulk optimization, but for now, it’s not possible.

What you could do instead, is not upload your PDF files to your Media Library. You could instead use an FTP program to upload them to another folder you create, such as:

    /wp-content/uploads/pdf/

Though the folder could be whatever you’d like. By default, Imagify will only optimize images and PDFs in your Media Library. If other folders on your server are not directly added in the “Custom Folders” section of your Imagify plugin settings page, then the bulk optimizer will not optimize images or PDFs in those folders.

Not a perfect solution, I do realize, but it could be a way forward for you.

    Best regards,
    Joseph
