Exclude post type "link" from index.php / loop

Hi,

I am trying to to figure out how to achieve this. It’s a standard install of the latest WP version, and I do not have any custom post types or similar. All standard.

What I want to do is exclude the “link” post type from my index.php, so that it doesn’t show up in the list of posts on the front page.

I only care about the blog standard front page, it doesn’t matter if the posts of type link are excluded from the archive pages or search.

Can anyone give me an idea of the easiest way to achieve this? A plugin would be fine, but I can’t seem to find one.
