• A few days ago I’ve setup a subdomain for my wordpress website, I would this subdomain to purely serve as a testing workspace for non-related WordPress activities.

However what seems to happen is that plugins on the main WordPress site start to interfere with this subdomain. Just to clear things up: I don’t have any active wordpress installation running on my subdomain yet the two domains still seem to be connected in some way.

From my understanding I thought that the entire WordPress installation would only be bound to a single domain. But it seems like the installation manifests itself throughout the entire domain name (including all subdomains, even though they are not located inside the same public html folder).

I don’t want my main WordPress installation to interfere with my subdomain. I was just wondering if it’s possible to separate these two.

  • If your web server is capable of running multiple sites than that would be dealt with via your hosting control panel.

If you don’t have a hosting control panel then ask your host for a bit of help with this.

Most webservers can handle this kind of setup just fine.
