Excluding Parent Categories & Sort Order Logic
-
Hi All,
1. Has anyone figured out how to exclude parent categories? I have most of my posts in multiple (child) categories, but those belong to different parent categories. so with show in all categories enabled if I have 3 child categories assigned and all of them are in different parents it causes the post to appear 6 times in the site map instead of 3. It can be even worse as I have multiple layers of hierarchy in some categories so a child of a parent can in turn be the parent of a child in a 3rd level down, etc, further causing unnecessary duplication in the sitemap plugin.
Ideally IMO the plugin should only list posts in the actual categories they are assigned to and not simply replicate the category listings of posts.
2. My second one is the sort order for posts (e.g. if you go alphabetical) appears to use the slug and not the actual text title of the post. Which as with above issue with the categories is probably the easier way to code the plugin but isn’t logical since viewers are seeing the text title, not the slug (and there are valid reasons the slug won’t exactly match the title of a post after editing and publication on rare occasions).
Any thoughts on a work around for this to get the sort order for posts to be alphabetical by the actual title?
TIA
