Executing ‘Standard field mapping Rule’ against images in a Search result set?

I can use the available Bulk Edit screen to update ALT Text, Description, Title field mappings. This works to answer my question and close this Topic.

I approached this starting from the Standard field mapping Rules already defined and will explore enabling or adding this as an option to what works already. Many thanks.

I was going to give you a process to accomplish the original goal, but it relies on some features in the current MLA version. It looks like you are using an older version of both MLA and of WordPress.

Screenshots from mla v3.04 on WP 6.1 are in this gallery. I’ll add to that gallery as my work on this continues.

Thanks for confirming that you’re on the latest MLA and WordPress versions. I should have recognized my own screen shots. Better yet, I really should update them.

Based on the images in your v3.04/6.1 gallery it looks like you worked out the same solution I was going to suggest:

1. Use the bulk edit feature on the Settings/Media Library Assistant IPTC/EXIF tab, setting the “Status” field to activate the rule(s) you want to apply and inactivate the rules you want to skip.
2. Use the search features on the Media/Assistant screen to select the items you want to modify.
3. Use the bulk edit feature on the Media/Assistant screen with the “Map IPTC/EXIF metadata” button to apply your rule(s) to the selected items.
4. Use the bulk edit feature on the Settings/Media Library Assistant IPTC/EXIF tab to restore the normal active/inactive status settings for your rules.

The rules you have shown in the gallery would be harmless to leave active. You could just use the Media/Assistant steps in the above outline without fiddling with the rule status settings.
