• Exhibit 1.1 is a huge step forward in terms of admin UI.
1.1 adds image upload/delete, directory creation/deletion, zip-file upload extraction, individual thumbnail creation, optional user-based image directories, and no post edit page reloads. I’ve fixed a bunch of stuff, too, including some umask/chmod stuff (crosses fingers), the annoying untiled floating issue, and the images appearing under the sidebar in IE.
Everything validates as valid XHTML, both on the published side and the admin side, and all of the features of Exhibit that you’ve come to cherish remain in there.
I moved the installation instructions into a new readme file that should explain enough to get you going. Feel free to ask questions here, though I’ll be gone over the weekend on a trip to D.C. (Darn, no Philly WP meetup for me. ?? )
    Enjoy!

You can have thumbnails begin on the last text page of a multi-page post or on the page after the last page of a multi-page post.
So if your post is only one page long, yes, you can. Set on_last_page=true in the config, or use the Post Config dropdown to set this (“Paginated thumbs start on last page”).
There is currently no way to start the thumbnails on the first page of a multi-page post and continue to subsequent pages. If this is your question, how would you suggest that it work?

I understand now. I think that’s what I need. I saw the “begin paginated thumbs on last page” tag, but the “word” last wasn’t computing in my brain right. But it makes sense now. Let me try it. Thanks.

    Hi,
    Now I understand !
    Great plugin-many thanks.

    @symantix:
Your request is currently running in my dev version code as a new config option. You can toggle it on/off in the config or per-post, just like the other paginate settings. ??

sweet. ?? Had you already implimented it, or did you do it just now?

I did that and some other stuff between when I asked and when I replied. ??

Here I go again with the requests…
Have you thought of the idea of having a watermark automatically added to each image upon uploading?

So when you upload an image, Exhibit puts a watermark on it then. Any images that are derived from that image (thumbnails, rotated) don’t add additional watermarks, but assume that the uploaded image has one already. Is this what you’re thinking?

All of my pictures have ugly borders on them, I have tried everything with the css.
    whats the problem?

    HELP!!

    Yes, ringmaster…
Add a watermark upon upload and maintain that. Don’t keep adding a watermark. Of course if the image is deleted then re-uploaded you would add a watermark again. You can specify the location (on the server) of the watermark image in the config file. Also you can specify placement location (bottom right, left, top right, left etc.).
If you’re curious, the site I am using it on is here:

Check the Tutorial link on the right. Might give you an idea for an Exhibit manual?

    Sorry, ringmaster…
I just thought about it some more. It doesn’t make sense to add the watermark upon uploading and keep it. What will happen is if you rotate the main image then the watermark will be rotated as well which is not nice.

How can one edit the caption (comment) below images?

    Thread Starter ringmaster

    (@ringmaster)

True, and since the thumbnail is then rebuilt from the rotated image, the thumbnail will contain the watermark too.
On the other hand, I don’t think I’m willing to maintain a pristine copy of an image on the server along with the resampled and watermarked version just so I can get “nice” watermarks when the image is rotated.
Do you see any other solution to this issue? Perhaps a watermark that can be removed and replaced after rotation? That kind of defeats the purpose, maybe.

If you want to rotate the image, why not just delete the copy on the server, rotate it on your machine, and upload a new copy? That doesn’t seem like it would be too much trouble.

Nevermind, it can be edited next to the checkboxes for remove/preview.
