Hi All, I had originally created my website in rapidweaver, all the pages were aboutus.html and gallery.html etc

However I have published my new wordpress pages, so they have the same hame, eg about us, gallery etc but if I click on a google link, eg https://www.mydomain.couk/aboutus.html, it does not take you to the right wordpress page.

Can anyone help, as I do not want my hardwork with google wasted with my new wordpress site. thanks

  • well, wordpress pages don’t end in .html, but your other pages do, so the links are different

you can update your permalink structure to have .html at the end I guess

Having read endless webpages on the subject I have finally solved the issue.

Unfortunetly you cannot change the permalinks to have .html at the end, all links seem to end in /page/

However, by opening up the .htaccess file in my wordpress folder on my host, I was able to add in this piece of code

    RedirectPermanent /aboutus.html https://mywebsite.co.uk/aboutus/

this then redirects all google links through to the relevant page. you can do this will all your links as well
