I created SKUs for products in Excel but your importer did not match the products and I used the product ID as an identifier, but no product ID option was available in your importer?

I have re-enable the product ID field on the importer (if you can download v2.0.12+) of the import wp woocommerce addon.

The product ID field is enabled o the Template Fields step, in the Product Fields Group, click on enable fields and select product ID.

To make sure that you only update the SKU fields i would recommend under the permissions step, set the “Unique identifier” to ID , and disable the create and delete checkboxes, enable the update checkbox and set the import dropdown to “Only the following fields”, and set the fields textbox to “_sku”.

Then once ran the sku of your products should be updated.

Please make sure you have a backup of your website and database before running any import or exports so that you can easily revert any changes.

Is it possible to change product type?

I import thousands of products, but I see that about 4,000 products have not changed their product type and are just choosing default simple product. I first export products and then make the changes to product type and then import them back into the system.

To enable the product type field, under the “Product Fields” section of the “Template fields” step, click on the button at the bottom of the section labelled “Enable fields”, and select enable product type, this field you can either choose from a dropdown, or enable the text field to be populated from your data file.

To update the product type from simple to external, I export the products, then import them.

I have released an updated version of importwp-woocommerce , this version allows changing of produc types except for changing a product type to a variation as WooCommerce throws an error if this happens.

In order to change product type, I simply import the product, match it by ID, and then go to enable product type. Then, in the permission field, I place the “product_type” on update option.
