Export feature is not exporting latest version of post/page..

  • We have two environments Production and Staging. I replicated the Production environment to Staging about a month ago without problem.

    We are developing a new theme colour in Staging. In order to keep things current, I exported the Pages/Posts/Media etc, from Production and imported them into Staging.

    However, edited pages/posts on Production have not been pushed through to Staging with their changes.

    We do not have revisions turned on. I am using the standard export/import option via Tools > Export and Tools > Import.

    Why is it not taking the latest version of the page/post with the export?

  • Already existing content will not be updated with this importer-plugin. Only new content is imported. If you want to update them, you would have to use another import plugin: https://de.www.ads-software.com/plugins/tags/importer/

    Alternatively, you could also do a database export and import. But it’s only worth it if you don’t save database data during theme development and need it again and again.
