    Hello

As I am regularly moving changes from one site to another I was wondering whether your plugin provides an export / import feature (I do not want to run through the assistant process each time I have modified my configuration) ?

I have been scrolling through your documentation, but haven’t found what I am looking for, frankly it was a quick run-through. Unfortunately www.ads-software.com doesn’t provide a search function for their forum (did I oversee something?) either, so I couldn’t search through your answers.

Maybe it is a simple table export / import, anything helps !

Thanks for a truly useful plugin …

    Bernhard,

Thanks for the compliment and for this interesting question/suggestion. I am glad you find the plugin useful enough to make settings export/import worthwhile.

I regret that there is nothing in the current version of the plugin to accomplish this. Your question made me realize that, with custom templates, mapping rules and view/upload settings there is enough data to make managing multiple sites a significant task.

I will add this to my list of enhancements to work on for a future release. In the interim, I will see how you might use a database utility like phpMyAdmin to make this process easier. I will update this topic with the results of my investigation.

Thank you for this idea; feedback from MLA users is a major source of plugin improvements.

I have released version 1.50, which includes a new feature for exporting and importing plugin settings. On the Settings/Media Library Assistant General tab, scroll down to the bottom and click the “Export ALL Settings” button to save your settings. Once that’s done an “Import ALL Settings” button will be added to the screen along with a dropdown box that lists each settings file you have created. You can pick a file from the list and click the button to import settings.

If you copy the /wp-content/mla-backup directory to another site, the import button and dropdown list will appear there as well.

Please let me know if you have any problems with or further questions about this new feature. Thanks again for your interest and for your suggestion.

I did not realize, that the import / export feature is for the plugin settings “only”. Actually I was hoping, that I can export / import my MLA attachment category and tag settings, which is the major work to reconfigure when moving from one WordPress site to another. Well, a database export / import as I am doing it today, does the job, so I will continue with this approach. Anyways, thanks a lot for your support.

Thanks for this update and for clarifying your needs. I regret that I did not completely understand your original question.

Exporting the taxonomy terms is an interesting and useful idea; I will consider that for a future release. I assume you are trying to copy the term definitions, and not the terms associated with individual Media Library items. Is that right?
