• Is there a way to export just the media library to a new installation? I exported the other content fine, but the attachment option failed.

This is a migration from my localhost to a live site at https://brleader.com/ (which is 3.1).

Barring the ability to export it, how would I download the entire content of the library so I can upload it manually?

    Thanks, all- David

  • To export not really. You should be able to go to your localhost root folder, select your wordpress installiation folder, and select wp-content. Copy this entire folder to your desktop. Then right click it and send to compressed folder.

In your internet browser, go to https://brleader.com/cpanel

    Log-in

Click file manager, Choose the default root,
Navigate to where you installed wordpress and click upload(make sure you have no files on the wp-content folder on server). Choose the zip “wp-content” folder from the desktop and climc select file Upon upload completion click return to file manager. Then click the compressed “wp-content” folder and click extract above. When asked if you want to overwrite the existing folder, click yes.

    All done.

But what happens when the site is hosted at WordPress.com? I don’t have access to the server.

I’m having the same issue. I have a large site at WordPress.com, trying to move it to a self hosted version of WP. The media gallery is huge, and trying to download them through the import process times out.
