    Hi LittleDove22,

You can export and import products using the standard WordPress Export and Import screens under the Tools menu.

If you open up the Export menu you will see that you have the choice of exporting ‘all content’ or selecting a page or post type. The shop products are all ‘Shop’ items in this menu, so select just that radio button. This will produce a WordPress export file containing just shop products.

Then on the site where you want to import, you use the import menu and upload the file you created in the last step. (you may have to install the WordPress importer and it will prompt you for this)

A limitation that I am working on is that WordPress import does not move the images for your products – it will link back to them on the original site. As long as the images are not deleted from the old site then things will still work but you will see warnings in the listing of all products that the images are ‘not local’ and this displays a little slowly in the back end and means you rely on the other site on the front end.

To get around this warning you will need to move the images to your site – either:
    1. Copy the /uploads/sas-images/ folder to your new site and manually edit the image links (or use SQL in the database if you are happy to do that).
    2. Re upload the images for the products in the new site.

I have a work item on my to do list called “Automate image import” for the next version of the plugin and hopefully it will mean that you can automatically copy images from a remote location into your site.

If you need anything else then let me know, if this has answered your question then it would be great if you mark it resolved.

    Cheers,

    Brian (PeoplesGeek)
