Is there any way to export the menu changes so that when a update is installed the changed configuration can be reloaded?

The Pro version has an export feature. However, usually you don’t need that for updates. Your existing configuration should be preserved when you update the plugin or WordPress itself. If you lose your configuration after an update then that’s probably a bug.

I would like to export and import my settings to other websites – with more or fewer plugins. How is this possible ?

With the Pro version, you can usually just use the “Export” and “Import” buttons. The plugin will automatically merge the imported settings with the default admin menu.

If the site has fewer plugins, the menu editor will discard the settings that are related to the missing plugins. If the site has more plugins, it will import what it can and leave any additional plugin menus unchanged. It won’t automatically delete plugin menus that are not in the imported configuration.
