Hi. I am trying to export my blog content using the built in export tool. I select “all content” or just “posts” and click, it takes a long time (3 minutes) then I do not get a window asking me where i want to save the xml file, but the page navigates to an html page showing all my rendered posts (they appear as they appear in my blog, just without the theme, but rather on a blank background).
If I try to save that web page, what is saved is an html file not xml file.
I disabled all plugins, still same problem.

Strangely, if I try to download latest backup file produced by WP-DBManager, the same happens ! the page simply navigates to a page full of code, instead of asking me where to save the sql.gz backup file.

    Please help me resolve this

    Have you tried:

    – deactivating all plugins to see if this resolves the problem. If this works, re-activate the plugins one by one until you find the problematic plugin(s).

    – switching to the default theme to rule out any theme-specific problems.

resetting the plugins folder by FTP or PhpMyAdmin. Sometimes, an apparently inactive plugin can still cause problems.

    – re-uploading all files & folders – except the wp-content folder – from a fresh download of WordPress. Make sure that you delete the old copies of files & folder before uploading the new ones.

Dear Esmi, thank you very much.
All solutions failed except the last one.
After deleting all files and uploading new ones everything seems to be back to life. This solved this issue and another issue (blank page after saving any setting).

But the question remains, what caused that, and why the only solution is to replace all files ?

It sounds like 1 or more WordPress core files were damaged on the host server. It does happen sometimes and the easiest effective solution is to upload a fresh set of core files (as opposed to running around trying to find exactly which files have been damaged).

If this happens frequently, however, it implies that there’s a deeper issue that needs investigating. Possibly with your hosts’ help.

Okay, will see about that. Thank you very much.
