exporting a WP site to another server problems.

    I am trying to export https://theleavenworthbassclub.org from a private server to Godaddy servers. I am trying to move it to https://leavenworthbassclub.com . I created the xml file on the .org site, downloaded it to my computer, and then imported it to the new .com site. I am getting all kinds of errors and if you look at the two web sites you can see they are nothing alike.
    The question is. Do I need to upload the proper theme before I can do the site transfer? The .org site has a custom theme. I don’t know if the errors are due to the difference in theme formats.
    Any help appreciated.

    In my experience, importing and exporting via XML is one of the harder ways to move a WordPress site from one web server to another. I prefer to move all the files and the database, and fix up the links, according to this documentation: https://codex.www.ads-software.com/Moving_WordPress

    I threw in the towel and just rebuilding it from scratch. Creating the WP site and installing the custom theme didn’t help.
    Appreciate the help though. Now I will start another thread with a different question.
