• I am trying to export a mysql database to upload to a remote server.
This DataBase is being used with word press.

I select Export in phpmyadmin and use SQL as the format.
    No Template is used.
The Radio button selected is “Quick Display”

I select Go and a window opens with two rows that ask me
What do you want to do with the Databasename
Options are Open or Save as.

I have not exported for some time, can anyone advise me what I need to do to
export correctly in order to export from my local PC to a remote server.
    Many thanks for your help.

    John

  • The window that asks you for “Open” or “Save” is from your browser. It wants to know what you want to do with this file. “Save” would be the right thing to do.

On the remote server, you will probably have to “import” the export file saved locally via phpmyadmin.

You could also use a plugin like UpdraftPlus to move your web. They also describe the procedure in a detailed article: https://updraftplus.com/faqs/how-do-i-migrate-to-a-new-site-location/
