    Hello,

Thx for your great plugin! Would you consider implementing a csv export of the stats? It’d be great!
    Cheers,

    Laurent

    Hi Laurent,

Thank you for your kind words and also for the review, much appreciated!

I’ll definitely research this. My initial thoughts are that it may be server-specific or reliant on a particular PHP version. I’d like to keep the plugin accessible to as many people as possible, but there could always be an export feature that would not be visible if the hosting didn’t allow it. Will definitely take a look at it some more! I’d thought about having the data for every year under the line graph, so having the option to do that then export to CSV/PDF would be pretty cool.

I personally use the data from the plugin for stats in a spreadsheet so this is a great idea, thanks again!

Quick update… The CSV export and custom taxonomy didn’t make it in the latest update but both are possible and will be added soon.

    Hello,
Happy new year! Thx for your very fast feedback, and good to hear that from you ??
I look forward to a further update!

Latest version, 3.1.01, doesn’t have the CSV export but it has “Compare Years” buttons for some of the fields on the main page (might need a hard refresh). It presents the data in a way that you should be able to copy/paste into a spreadsheet. If I expand the compare years thing to all of the charts, by that time I may have figured out how to do the CSVs in a way that everyone will be able to use.

A fairly big update this time. Plenty of bug fixes. Plenty of code added/deleted. If anything stops working for anyone please let me know. I’m going to mark this as resolved for now.

Thanks again for your suggestions, more ideas are welcome but I’m only one coder so I may not be able to keep up ??

Just a quick note to say I’m making progress on the CSV exports. The problem I’m finding is that if someone has security plugins (and I recommend everyone to use reputable security plugins) this can sometimes block the file from being downloaded. More research is needed, but I can see it being something that you activate on the settings page with instructions on which settings to modify on any security plugins for it to work. PVS is only a small plugin but I’d like it to work 100% for everyone.

Finally, the Beta of the CSV exports are added to the latest version “3.1.05”.

I don’t want to tell anyone to deactivate their security plugins and it seems to work for me with most of the security I have still running, but there are certain options on some security plugins that restrict the download of dynamic files from the server… anything like this may stop it from working.

After updating, just go to the settings and it’s a new option to turn on/off. For now it just works on the main page on charts where you have the “compare years” button.

I wanted to make the download only work if you are logged in as an admin. I probably made that bit over-complicated and because of that your admin area must be called “wp-admin”, i.e. the default. I can probably change that next time because there maybe people who have renamed it.

Anyway, I’d really like to know how it works for you… or if it doesn’t… and any ideas you have. Once we get the CSV download to a point where it works properly I can definitely see it getting added to the other pages.

    Thanks,
    Neil

Apologies, the fix in “3.1.05” stopped the downloads from working so “3.1.06” fixes the issue and they SHOULD work fine now. For me, I sometimes have to clear cache to make sure the latest version is fully loaded but it has been working with different security plugins.

    Hello,

    Great to receive this update!
For me, the csv export works smoothly! No worry with security plugin, since I’m not using any.. I must add that I didn’t change the name of the wp-admin. So, I might reflect the ‘happy user’ ??
I must add that I can download csv for all charts but ‘Categories’, ‘Tags’ and my custom taxonomy. It’d be great to add this feature.

I would also appreciate if you could add (maybe in the settings page) the capacity to include into the stats, posts set as private or draft (this informs me about the dynamics of publishings among the teachers using my multi-author blog).

Thanks again for your great work!

    Cheers,

PS : it might be useful to offer the user the possibility to download in one zip file, all csv files with all the data?

    Hey,

These are all great suggestions. I was very cautious with the CSV download, possibly too cautious. If it works in it’s current form the categories, tags and customs are the next thing to be added. Possibly just from the main page to begin with, like the others. Then, eventually, I’d like to have the line graph export to a CSV too.

Talking about custom taxonomies, I don’t know if you have more than one custom taxonomy, but I’ve just enabled more than one to be viewed at the same time (in version 3.1.07). This means that they all appear on the main page at the same time, and each have their own pages visible at the same time. To enable this just go to settings and the option for “Display All” should now be on the taxonomy dropdown (only if you have more than one custom taxonomy).

Your suggestions are definitely on my “to do” list, the draft/private/public thing would be useful for me too. I hope to get around to them soon.

    Hey,
To answer your question: no, we’ve got only one custom taxonomy; yet planing to have more, I’m glad to hear that’s included in version 3.1.07!

One more suggestion, that I think would be valuable for many users (at least very valuable to us): adding the possibility for the user to pick the precise temporal range from which post volume stats should be calculated. Right now, it’s possible to toggle between years, but it’d be nice to add a range selector field, to customize the period (a bit like in google analytics). In our case, we’re working with french class period, ranging from september to septembre (in between civil years so to speak..)

Maybe I’m asking to much:) I’m already very happy with your plugin, and very thankfull to you!

    Cheers,

    Hi Laurent,

It’s been a while but I’m working on this right now.

The basic mechanism for the “temporal range” is done. Just making sure the CSV exports and everything works properly once a date range is selected. Once it’s finished and checked I’ll add it to the next update!

I’m also planning to show daily stats for a short period (30 or 60 days, maybe). I think this will be good for all people who post fairly regularly, but especially if you have a large number of authors who probably make a lot of posts.

Re: the number of authors who post and the ones that don’t. I’ll try to add something to the main page. I guess it would have to be a total number. Like X total authors, Y have posted one or more posts and Z have not posted any.

I hope you’re still using the plugin. Would love to hear what you think after the changes are made.
