• I did a “search” on “export import category” but only see a lot of confusion–with optimism that this can be done.

    I want to take all of the old “Money & Investment” category blog entries on my old PERSONAL blog, and move them to a new BUSINESS blog.

    Is this doable? I thought it would be with 2.2 (which I’ve spent the day upgrading to).

    bump

    How many posts are in that category?

    The method below will get all the posts. It won’t get comments associated with them though.

    Visit Options -> Reading, scroll down to Syndication Feeds and change the value there to however many posts you’re after.

    Now, visit https://personalblog address/categoryName/feed/ to get all the posts displayed.

    Using your browser, save that page as an xml file locally to your computer.

    Log into the new Business blog.

    Visit Manage -> Import

    Click on RSS

    Click “Choose” and point to that xml file you just saved.

    Hmmm…I got as far as “Using your browser, save that page as an xml file locally to your computer.”

    I don’t have XML as a “Save as…” option in my browser (Explorer 6).

    I’ll try upgrading to Explorer 7 and see if that gives me the option. I assume that this is my problem?

    Nope–I’m stuck at getting the page as an XML file. Explorer 7 doesn’t do that either. Nor FireFox.

    Better give you my address https://www.jerrypettit.com/blog, since maybe it’s a problem with the theme.

    Got it–it WAS a theme problem, and I was able to eventually get to the feed page and download the page to XML. Now I’ve imported and everything’s there–except “unpublished”. Seems like there should be some kind of way to mass “publish”…
