Extend past the main container

I am trying to extend a bar of color, large enough to play video inside, the full width of the monitor…that puts it outside the boundaries of the main container. This is on the home page ONLY. This bar will be immediately under the banner picture that runs horizontally the entire length of the monitor, bright yellow in color.
