• Let me just start off by saying that I don’t even know if this is possible.

I was tasked by my extended family to create a website for us to post news and pictures of ourselves (most of us are in different states). I have 38 first cousins, with about 25 on my mother‘s side, not to mention her 8 sisters and brother. Not all of my cousins have started their own families, but about 13 of them have so far.

What I had in mind was a blog, or rather series of blogs. One would be the main destination, with each subunit of the family having their own blog, under the first. What I also wanted was the most recent posts auto-generating the content on the main page. For example, lets say my sister, Gina, updates her blog with a bit of news and some pictures. That post would then be cross posted (automatically, with no additional effort on her part) to the main blog.

Does anyone know if this can be done?

  • Hi

Using feeds yes it can be done. There are several ways of doing this.

    1. WordPress mu – multiple blogs all under one domain. Tricky to set up and maintain.
    2. Multiple wordpress set-ups under sub-domains all linking to one main blog.
    3. One main blog with different categories.

The posts would not be cross-posted. They would have a feed that would indicate a new post. Folks could then click on the post and read it.

Contact me off-list if you want some help.
