Extending WP Pages

I thought I might be able to use PODs to extend the WP built in content type “Pages”. I want to add the built in taxonomy “tags” to “Pages”. I found a plugin to do this: https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/add-tags-and-category-to-page/ However, since I am already using PODs and would rather use pods I thought I would try and do it with PODs, however, it does not seem possible – or am I missing something.

P.S. I did read this: https://pods.io/docs/build/how-to-associate-a-post-type-with-a-taxonomy/ But it seems to be talking about CPTs not already existing ones.

If someone can confirm that this is a limitation or point me to a tutorial that would be awesome.
