I thought there was a way to allow an external link to an event to be added instead of putting all the information into the Event Details section. Either that was on another plugin or It has been switched off.

If someone could let me know if I have missed something that would be appreciated.

    Thanks

you can try to use Event Attributes located at Settings > General > General Options > Enable event attributes (set to Yes) then put your custom attributes below that at Event Attributes e.g. #_ATT{external_link} (now, try to edit or add events and noticed this below of page) then to use that put this on your formats at Settings > Formatting > Events > Default single event format or Default event list format

    Is this what you mean?

I am not sure what I am doing. I have added the above and I now see the option at the bottom for external link. I place a link in there but it does not take me to the external page.

I place a link in there

    where do you place it?

Do you see a meta box allowing for custom attributes called ‘Attributes’?

When I am creating the event there is now a section at the bottom that says “Attributes” and under “attribute name” and then I can place in the external url.

I think the issue is I am not sure what to put in the formating of “single events page” to read the link and go to the external page if a value exists.

Ideally I would like it if they were to click on the event in the calendar and it would go straight to the external link instead of going to the single events page then to the external link.

To change the calendar link you’d have to modify the calendar template, because the links are created using PHP

However, to add the link to your page, you’d do it in Settings > Formatting > Events > Default single event format

e.g. add this to the end

    <a href="#_ATT{external_link}">custom link text</a>

That is not quite what I was trying to do.

I am trying to bypass the single events page. So by puting in an external link in the event.

If that is not going to work then I would like to put in some sort of forward:

When looking at the calendar view you see all the events on the calendar but on a paticular one when you click on that event in the calendar it takes you straight to an external page and not going to the single events page. I tried to put in a refresh forward to the external page but it was not working right it would still fully load the single events page then forward and I was having issue trying to put in the {has_#_ATT} in getting it to work if there was not an external link set.

if you are using the full size calendar, then you could do this by going to Events > Settings > Formatting > Calendar > Full Calendar > Event Format and add the same link from above instead of what you have there.

If you’re using the small calendar, then you’d have to modify the template files as indicated in the link above.

I tried adding the above link custom link text in to the “event format” at Events > Settings > Formatting > Calendar > Full Calendar > Event Format and it still took me to the single events page.

I love the program and will try and find another way to make it work.

Sorry, I guess it is just beyond my knowledge to get this done. It was a feature in Events Made Easy that I would use. It had an option when setting up an event to bypass the single events page and go to a specified url. I would use this in my calendar if it was for an event that was not hosted by me. It allowed those looking at the calendar to just go directly to the events flyer. I guess I will just have to code in the flyer or put a link in the single events page to “go here for more information” just trying to save them a step.

This should work… I’m wondering if you’re talking about the same full calendar – https://demo.wp-events-plugin.com/calendar/normal-calendar/

on this calendar, you can change the links to each event. if you’re using something else then maybe not.
