• Hi!

I love the plugin but i am wondering why there is no option to link .mp3 files from external media (dropbox url etc) – I thought this would solve my server load issues but after reviewing my uploads i realized that it’s just importing the entire file to my media library .. nulling the point – i love using the embed from dropbox within the post areas for images.. but my site requires that i pull in .mp3 files for the player from the media library only -thanks!

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

Hi @colourvision unfortunately most services do not allow to serve the files directly from their services, this includes Dropbox. However this might change and or it is already changed for premium customers. I know paid Google Drive customers have this ability.

I might look into adding a new option to the plugin that would allow serving the files directly from remote services without uploading the files into the Media library.

I am looking at an option that does allow to serve files directly. Can you add an option via url that does not import into library. I have a storage server that has alot more capacity than the dropbox, drive, etc. that I already am paying for and sometimes it is not suitable to serve from dropbox, drive, etc.

@usera are you saying that your Dropbox account allows you to serve files directly from their servers ? As far as I know last time I checked direct linking was not allowed which makes sense, they don’t want create load on their servers.

I will work on a feature that would allow direct linking on services that support that for all or their premium users.

    Thanks,

    Minnur

@minnur I’m not sure on the terms and limits but if you search for dropbox uploader; it can pull/push files directly to your account. I use it daily for backup documents on my free account
