Camu…here you go…new topic plus a link to the test page.

Basically, if I click an external link, Slimstat seems to be interfering unless I disable Slimstat. With methodical testing, here are the exact symptoms and how to reproduce them.

    – WP v4, Slimstat v3.82
    – Plugin Organizer v5.6.3
    – Chrome Browser v39.0.2171.65 m and IE-11 fail
    (Firefox 28 is NOT affected)

Reproduce-able (90% or more of the times)
    – CLEAR BROWSER CACHE
    – go to the https://mikesqualitybodyworks.com/slimstat/
    – click the yellow NAVIGATE button and wait a few seconds
    – usually you will be redirected to one of the other internal pages
    – click the browser back button
    – click the navigate button and wait….(Nothing happens usually)
    – click it again and you should finally be directed to the external page at google maps
    – subsequent clicks of the Navigate button will work normally
To recreate the issue, clear the browser cache and repeat the steps above

    Working pages
The other non test pages on this website work because I have disabled slimstat on a per-page basis using “Plugin Organizer”.

    Note
I have also tried disabling all other plugins to isolate an incompatibility without success.

    Camu,
I did the trick you described.
Unfortunately, testing the said link with IE11 still required 2 clicks.

Hm, apparently the trick didn’t work, because this is not the new code:

    https://dev.ox.io/wp-content/plugins/wp-slimstat/wp-slimstat.js

The correct one doesn’t have any occurrences of this string

    parseInt(SlimStatParams.id)<0

while the one on your site right now has 1 occurrence.

    Camu,
of course…duh…sorry…I updated the code on MY site and not on bishoph’s site hence he has the old code. So He needs to update his code. Got a bit confused there.

    Hi camu.

Unfortunately nothing changed after the update. As far as the IE debugger tells me, the t.click(); gets never executed…

As I’m located in Germany there will be a bit of delay until I can answer and test again, JFYI.

Within the next few days I will make a donation of 100$ for your effort!

bishoph, thank you for showing your appreciation for our work through your generous donation! I just tested your site again with IE11, and it worked. Please make sure your browser is not caching the old javascript code.

    Thank you,
    Camu

Uhm, I deleted the cache in IE 11 and it does not work for me in regards to the external links (Page like said before, Section: Getting started, the two links under point 2). In addition, Chrome needs 2 clicks again to open the external links with the newest version.

What I can offer is to change the JS link to a location where you can update the JS and debug when-/whatever you want for the next few days.

Really weird, it works for me on both browsers. You should be able to see my pageviews (and the corrisponding clicks on the outbound links) coming from an IP starting with 108.5. Do you have any special “filters” in the settings that would treat your IP/user differently from any other user? Can you ask someone else to test the site?

themadproducer, would you be able to check bishoph’s site again?

    bishoph

    (@bishoph)

    Hi camu.

There is indeed a filter “Blacklist by IP Address” to filter out all employees and the admin user. Both affects the current browsers I test with. Will test again from home as I’m currently in the office.

With the filters active, does this means the two clicks are normal?

    (@themadproducer)

    works for me both browsers

    bishoph

    (@bishoph)

Ok, testing from a different network and without login. Here are the results:

Links are working in both browsers: https://dev.ox.io/documentation/
Links are not working in both browsers: https://dev.ox.io/documentation/

This means with a URL where the protocol change the issue is still open and can easily reproduced. This means from a wordpress page with https to an external URL with http or vice versa you still have the issue.

I’ll be available in ~10 hours if you need further information. Good night and thx in advance. BTW: the donation is on the way ??

These two issues will need further investigation: filters enabled and https. Would it be possible to get access to your admin, so that I can set filters on my IP/user to reproduce and troubleshoot the issue? You can contact us at https://support.getused.to.it ??

Created the ticket and going to idle mode now. Thx for your engagement and support so far, camu.

Okay cool. We were able to reproduce the issue when you are filtering a given user (not tracking his/her pageviews), but not the issue related to HTTPS. We’ll keep you posted. Thank you for your patience!

Bishoph, could you please repeat the steps in

    https://www.ads-software.com/support/topic/external-links-problem?replies=29#post-6270243

and see if we’re luckier this time around? ??

    bishoph

    (@bishoph)

    Hi camu.

Updated and tested from the network which is blacklisted. Can confirm: Chrome works fine for both protocols, thumps up!

Issues remains for IE. I honestly apologize for finding bugs in the buggiest browser that exists on earth ?? . To make this clear: I would be fine with excluding external link tracking for IE ??
