Is there a way to store backups externally, without them being local?

I use Google Drive but do not want them to be stored in the Updraft dashboard and on my blog server as they take up a lot of space.

    Hi,

    Thanks for asking!

UpdraftPlus cannot send the backups externally. What you can do though is connect UpraftPlus to Dropbox, Google Drive, or other remote storage options, and then you can just set Dropbox/Google Drive to automatically sync the backups on your computer.

Thank you for responding! Maybe external was the wrong word. I just want it to go to google drive only and not locally. I don’t need the option to restore within the plugin. Is that possible?

    Hi,

    That is possible.

Just go to UpdraftPlus > Settings > Show Expert settings > select the option “Delete local backups” option. That should delete the local backups after the backups are successfully sent to your remote storage.

Please note that you will need to delete the backups that are already stored on your local server.

Please let me know if that works.

    Thanks,
    Bryle
