External URLs for Post Featured Images

  • Hi everyone

    I was wondering if it is possible to have an image external of a WordPress installation as the featured image on a post? So that rather than having the featured image as an ID it would be a URL.

    The reason for this is that I am using an eCommerce plugin on the WordPress installation, the products are added as a type of post in the prefix_posts table, so they do handle featured images as a default WP post would.

    Any help on this would be greatly appreciated

  • You could use the free Zemanta plugin to do this. That’s the only solution I know. I suggests pictures related to your content and featured image is possible as well.
