    Hi!

I have an extra “<” (without quotes) appearing in the beginning of my posts which is causing the first html tag in every post to appear as text.

An example can be seen in any of my posts. Simply look at the first line of the post and you will see a html tag appearing where it shouldn’t, such as <p>, or <div> –

If you look at the HTML code, it says “<p><<img src=” ….”, and I believe that extra “<” is what’s causing the first HTML tag of every post to appear in the body text. However, I don’t know where it’s coming from. I’ve checked my code for single.php but I do not see anything weird/wrong. That extra “<“, of course, isn’t coming from the posts themselves.

This issue just came up a day ago and I have not made any changes to the code or installed any new plugins. Can anyone advise what I can do? Thanks so much in advance!

  • As you mentioned single.php, can you review all page templates that have been modified of late? If a caching plugin was in use, you may not have noticed right away this simple syntax error…

Please note: your root site is not up to date:

Also, take a better look at your plugins…

    Okay, found the problem!

Turns out I had an extra comma in one of my links which I input in my SEO Auto Linker plugin which caused the trailing < in my posts. I’ve fixed it.

Thanks everyone for reading this! Leaving this post intact just in case anyone faces the same problem.
