Extra Tags

I’m using the Simple Shortcode with Content type and “Suppress content filters” enabled. If I use the Shortcode Content field to add a few lines of text and then insert the shortcode, the text appears okay on the front end. However, if I then apply a format to that text, extra p tags are added above the formatted text. This extra paragraph isn’t viewable in the visual editor or within the text editor. Is there any way to fix this?
