@jhnpldng – The menu items under Dashboard are not supposed to be visible. You can seen in the screenshot below that they are not normally there. You can also see here that we do have them removed via code. You are only the 2nd or 3rd user to see them appear there. This is definitely not normal and we have tried tracking it down before with no luck as we can’t duplicate it during testing to find what causes it in the first place. Furthermore this same method of getting started pages etc is used in countless other major plugins such as Easy Digital Downloads, WooCommerce, Yoast SEO etc. In fact the functionality was directly copied from those. Would be happy to resolve it but we need to figure out the core cause of it which would require access for testing or a way to duplicate your install to a testing server.
I have drawn the conclusion thus far that this is caused by plugins that are used to customize the admin and admin menus, as they seem to ignore the remove_submenu_page. On all but a handful of installs so far they are not visible (basically hidden pages only accessible via url).
